Aller à la pêche

It’s been quite a week here at the Casa de Kris, amigos. I apologize in advance if I’ve offended any of our Spanish-speaking readers; I know not if that’s correct usage given I took French given the choice. Lot of good it did me. In the fifth grade I was tutored in the language by a woman with the most unique penmanship who would place signs about our house on the most ordinary of things. What is this? She’d ask. I’d respond in what we both deemed to be a most pleasing accent, one that was immediately rejected by the natives when my family moved to Paris six months later. Upon returning to the States I was bussed to the high school to take advanced classes. As you can imagine, there are few things worse for an 8th grader who’s a quart high on anxiety. I knew not the social rules of high school nor the administrative ones, and was stopped in my tracks when entering the 100 Wing before the ever-important bell by a teacher sporting a bow tie. He was shorter than I, even as a 16 year old, and he called me out in front of rows of students at the starting gate of fifth period. I should have known better, but attempted to recapture the joy of the French language last year when I checked out a set of Pimsleur Level II CDs. The Arlington Library refuses to accept the fact that they were returned, despite my rather complex and labored emails to that point, and has put my mother to work directing tourists ’round the Tidal Basin to pay off my debt.

Life has seemed equally frustrating as of late, bad news from all corners of the field. I’m exercising compassion all-around (see the self-indulgent comment I made on my own last post, and feel free to call me out while sporting a bow tie in the color of your choice). I need good news, the promise of a new day, the introduction of a baby (if you must), just something, anything, that lets me know that good is still happening in the world.

I feel strongly that my own good news shall return soon. It’s simply dormant, I suspect, like volcanoes and the souls of Real Housewives.

Boy, I could have written this (the tone, anyway, not the quality of the writing; or the Mother guiding tours or the speaking French, haha). I have had a couple of epiphanies in my life. Not in quite a while, though, and I’m in dire need of one. Here’s hoping we both get what we want.

Here’s hoping that things get better. Eventually they will, though when they aren’t it’s definitely not pleasant. You can do it though.

i was bussed to the high school to take math classes. not sure anything is worse than the looks of HS kids when 4 middle schoolers get off a short bus to take advanced classes. oy.

sorry to hear life’s so frustrating. i don’t have much in the way of good news other than to say the sun is still shining and life, no matter the frustration, is still precious. hope things improve quickly.

I’ve been crabby all the time, disinterested and just very MEH. It’s getting old. So today I am bringing meals to my friend and her husband who just had a baby. Their second baby as it were because their first baby did not make it to term. So this is joyous and I hope that it somehow, selfishly, lets me drop my bullshit and feel the good of life.

My friends are celebrating their wedding anniversary tonight, their 15th. My husband of almost 17 years and I, along with our son (their kids are best friends with him) will be joining them and some other friends and family on a yacht cruising the intracoastal through Ft. Lauderdale this evening. There will be, as always, much laughter.

Today is a new day, another chance. Take it.

I hope things get better for you quickly. xo

I’ve got baby introductions over by me. WAY too many babies, to be exact. All the cuteness is making my ovaries ache and kicking my biological clock into extreme overdrive…

But really, I’ve got a chunky baby girl with too much hair on my page. Come by!

Va pêcher…not to be confused with péché, which is “to sin.” I’m quite sure that the French chose to making fishing and sinning sound so close just to screw with everyone.

Hang in there, my friend :)

Touch you last Dave and I are expecting another one — and this time, it’s a GIRL! We had no preference (current boy is awesome, so another would have been cool), but we are super excited.

In one week – our family of three and my parents are heading to FL for a Transatlantic adventure, cruising to Rome where we’ll stay for a while (my Mom was born not far from Rome). We are super excited.

One of my closest girlfriends (from MI) will soon be moving to DC, as her soon to be husband (with his soon to be conferred PhD) just got a job at the FTC. Down the road, we will be in the DC area to visit, and we’d love to play again. We will keep you posted!

After more than a year of being unemployed, I finally found a job! It’s PT/temp, but it’s a job. It feels great to have been made an offer after so many of my cover letters and resumes have gone unacknowledged. That’s my good news!

Another redhead is in the making, the snow is almost gone, the Tivo is finally working. Small pleasures!

shadow- add peach- une pêche- to that list too, I always confused the 3 and seemed to use them incorrectly all the time. The French were thankfully patient with me.

My dog pooped like 3 times on our walk today. That is amazing news and shout-out worthy. I hope you’re feeling better and I know in your case these times do pass.

    Thinking good thoughts

Good news-my older brother and younger sister (and their spouses) are both expecting within days of each other. One is due 2 days after my bday and the other is due ON my bday. So neat!

And thanks for your blog, I read regularly but don’t usually post comments. You always make me laugh…

Hopefully things turn around for you soon! It can’t help that you haven’t had the TV or internet in a while. Hmph.

I don’t bring much good new myself, but I’m certain it’s waiting around the corner for you.

I’m most likely going to Paris next weekend. Would you like to accompany me as my language nanny? I think we should try to arrange that …..

You could have lunch with me! Total schedule value-added right here baby!!!

Meh. I feel the same way these days. But, I did get a job! YAY! Of course, I’m moving, so I’ll see you….well, probably just as much as we do now <3

My good news is that I didn’t stab anyone while hosting a bachelorette party this weekend! Seriously. If you knew how impatient I am, especially with girls, you’d see how epic this is. Deep breaths…the good is coming.
