I made a grave error in that I erased all the nice comments you left on the post about Bug. I tried to retrieve them, but they’ve clearly gone to the Land Beyond where single socks and earrings make their homes. If you can remember what you wrote, would you please recomment? Particularly you, Bill, who wrote about alternate snacks I might try feeding him, like melon and bacon. And I ask you to repost this for the cat, yes, but also because many of your suggestions seemed ideal as wine party hors d’oeurvres.
In other news, I am in Seattle for part of the day, and woke up early for a 7:00 am appointment. Really early. Because for some reason the time on my Blackberry didn’t automatically change upon landing, and that 5:00 am that shone brightly on its alarm face? Still EST. And yes, scientists among us, that’s 2:00 am in the Seattle where the Kris had moments before been fast asleep. I owe the feat of falling back to Phelps dreamland to the gnomes of this incredible hotel bed. If they fit into the rental car, they will be coming home with me.

Yeah, you have to reset the time zone on a BlackBerry manually. Use the setup wizard. Changes all the times in your calendar, too, so any meetings you had in EDT suddenly show up as 5 a.m. tete-a-tete. Scary until you realize it will change back when you return. Standard cell phones auto reset the first time they’re used in a new zone. BlackBerries should also, if you ask me (which actually you didn’t).
So Bug is a very lucky cat because he has you and you saved his life and no matter how annoying the little inconveniences are for him, his life is infinitely better because you are in it. You did a good and fine thing for him and you didn’t think about the cost. So you’re my cat hero, too.
Just grow your nails a bit longer and help him scratch when necessary.
(waving to you)
Welcome - hope you enjoyed the downpour. ;-)
Isn’t 2 am about the most time e-stalkers begin their day?
That’s a really big coinkidink methinks.
Luckily, they have lots and lots of coffee there.
“most time e-stalkers”
Clearly, I need some coffee as well. But I’ll make due with Diet Coke. Per uzh.
Hooray for Seattle!!!! I think I can actually feel myself turning green as we speak I am jeal-ous! =-) I hope you have a great time and if you should be seized with the desire for a tattoo…I know just the place. ;-)
Sorry, I can’t remember what I wrote to the cat or what I ate for breakfast for that matter. Just know it was damn good. Both the comment and my breakfast.
Kris, a tweet:

OMG! You are so close to Vancouver! You should totally cross the border for a visit!
So, you’re saying that you’re into short guys in bed ’cause they “help you fall asleep fast” eh? Excellent!
Hi Kris,
I am also a companion to a 3-legged cat. Things I learned from Pudly:
(1) Make friends who will lick you when needed. Pudly will thrust his head under the other cats’ and they will satisfy his itch, to his loudly-purring contentment.
(2) No goals are unattainable. When jumping cannot be done, climbing (with claws extended) is an acceptable substitute to reach the window or the high spot in the sunshine on the cat tree. (Pudly needs to be reminded, though, to be careful when his claws are trimmed)
(3) Life as a rescued, indoors only cat, is preferable to the terrors and trials of an outdoor cat.

I just mentioned that I had a 3 legged cat also (how many of us are there!) and he twitched, and loved to have me rub the ear he couldn’t reach. He would just lean into me and I would move my finger in the same movement/arc his paw would have scratched, had said paw still been around. He would purr with happiness.
He also caught lots of mice (farm cat) and lived to a ripe old age.
He loved tuna, too. Lots. In fact, I think he would have turned anything down if offered tuna as his second choice.
So I had this Michael Phelps dream and his mom was such a bitch and I was at work and she demanded I make her breakfast.
She was just mad that she caught us making out.
