Always have a Backup! I know you have a complete backup dress (and shoes) for work and probably Play, you have (or rightly Should have) Backup cash for those little unexpected emergenices (like Bail),and you have Backup keys, in case you lock yourself out. Two (2) Words: Backup laptop.

I’m sorry for your hopefully temporary loss. My laptop was stolen on New Year’s Eve when “friend” came over to “celebrate.” I threatened everyone I knew and actually got it back (I can be a frightening bitch), but she’s never been the same since.

And this whole meeting “live” people thing is a bad idea, don’t do it.

Reading your post gave me sweats. My computer died not long ago. After a suitable mourning period (as soon as the store opened) I went and bought 2 (laptop and desktop). I never want that feeling again.

my internet connection went down the other day. It’s not as bad as your computer dying, but I was like “how the hell do I find out the phone number for ____?” and “Where the hell is _____?” and I suddenly realized my dependence on the internets.

I wanted to buy a new laptop to replace this 20 lb clunker, but I couldn’t justify it anymore after the water heater broke and I had to buy a new one.
Maybe if I break my laptop I will HAVE to buy a new one of those too. Hmmmmm….

oh, how i empathize! not too long ago my computer broke down too and had to be shipped off to california to be fixed! i was devastated (not to mention, scared: would the shipping people and california people take as good care of her as i do?!). but, alas, she came back working better than ever. yours will too!
