Wow, am I ever out of the loop. Oh, well, that’s what I get for being a Z-lister.

Arent links enough for people?? Are people’s narcissistic tendencies NOT being placated by writing blog entries about their breakfast cereal of the day? Am I not understanding this “phenomena” properly? I guess people need to do crap like this during their downtime from filling out reality tv show applications. I actualy just read a blog where someone bragged about being bumped to the top of technorati for a whopping 7 minutes. This isn’t an internet “experiment”. It’s a desperate cry for help. Man. it’s sad.

From what I gather, it’s a guy’s (Robert Scoble) way to test how search engines work with regards to blogs and how fast they work with regards to blogs. As with everything else in the world, it seems half the people out there thought that was a good idea and half of them thought it was stupid. Basically, he asked people to put Brrreeeport in their blogs, or headlines, or as tags, so he could see how search engines would track them. Because people don’t really know how search engines work (i.e., no one knows exactly how Google decides how it ranks pages … there’s some complex design behind it – it’s not just traffic).

Oh … and the reason it matters for some bloggers is because their blogs aren’t just personal blogs for chatting etc., they are how they make a living. So if it means the difference between breaking even or declaring bankruptcy, you care.

Is it too early to call you a dork? Or can I call you on the adding to the machine? Or should I call you Big Brother (with boobs)?

Sounds like a wicked version of Crackers for uber geeks. I probably know the dude who pulled off the stunt since he works at Microsoft.

It’s just another way for Homeland Security, the FBI, the CIA, the DEA, the ATF, the IRS and Big Brother to know what I’m doing at all times!!!!!!

That you know about this scares me. I’m afraid. Very afraid. So afraid I’m typing in sentence fragments now. Hope you’re happy.
